STEPHEN BARBER

I moved to RI in 1981 and started working on several small fishing boats as a crew member. By the end of that decade I had my captains license and was running a 80ft. commercial fishing boat.After years of government regulations and soaring fuel prices I decided to retire and go back to school.I am currently working on a bachelors degree in Business Management.

Since 2017 I work for URI and teach a course on boat safety and navigation. I also am the Captain of URI's research boat and take student's out on Narragansett bay as part of their lab portion of class.
