Hey Everyone-
We need help locating anyone who didn't fill out there profile so we can get in touch with them about the reunion. Some people do not want to use this web site, that's fine.
At the last meeting we (Keely and Mark Harris, Stan Fabiszak, Brenda Mayo, Suzy Fox, Colleen Haugwout, Arlene Sinkowitz and myself) split up the names of those who didn't fill out their profiles and are trying to locate them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I agree with Barabra, more info on the profiles will make the reunion more fun.

Hi All! Ran into Sue Skelly today and she told me about the reunion. I logged onto Classmates.com and have found myself here, getting very nostalgic while I drink my glass of wine. I can not wait to see all of you and laugh as I did at the 10 year. When the 20 came around I think I just freaked out but I am raring to go for the 30th. I have emailed some of you thru this site and would love to hear from you. I find it so odd that I live in the same town and know nothing about anyone. I guess I need to get out a little more. Until I read Randy's comment I did not even know the field house was gone. Now I'm even more bummed out because I figured we could all go and write on it homecoming weekend! Anyone for breaking into the school and finding a place to sign our names? : )

How great to see all the chatter on the message forum. Hey Dede - I will answer your email soon, but I don't think I am up for "signing the school" - perhaps a banner warning the town that we are all converging on them at the same time. It was great seeing the wonderful things Brian has been doing, and I teared up hearing that he and Billy spent time together. I still see Susan Skelly whenever I can (not nearly enough) and Betty Lou usually gets a visit when I am passing through Delaware (last time she hitched a ride to LI with me - that was sweet).
I really love all you freaks - can't wait to see y'all.

I'm hoping to come in October. I'm currently in San Diego and will be spending a pile of money to take the family home to Babylon in July to see the family while the kids are out of school, so if I have any left, I'll be coming, probably alone. For now, count me in.

It's been fun to catch up and reminisce just reading profiles. So being together again should really be a good time.

Philip K. and Brian M. - great seeing all those pictures in your profiles. That's what I'm talking about! I love seeing everyone's kids and the oldie photos that Philip put on. I didn't go to public grade school, but recognize Arlene Sinkowitz (sooo cute) and Steven Barber right away. I absolutely loved seeing Philip in his Prom tux!!

Couldn't agree more, Barb! More photos, folks! I love the old elementary school and BHS pics. I know I have a bunch hanging around somewhere (anybody remember our football team doing ballet in BHS presents?! Boy, I gotta find those pics - they should be worth some serious blackmail bucks!). Really looking forward to October and Homecoming weekend. Hey, Keely, think they'll give us a spot in thee parade?

Hey all - found 2nd,3rd,5th & 6th grade class pictures! So funny. My scanner is down but I am working on getting them uploaded. Once done I will post another response. We were certainly a stunning bunch of kids - no wonder we all turned out so well! See you in October - Dede : )

I hope that everyone looks at this sight often to revisit the survey and message forum for current info. Sad to see how many people are still "missing" - there are some new ideas on the activity survey. I personally would love to see Greg's show - I heard alot about last year's performance and would so enjoy seeing it. Linda??? Do you have any pull in this area? I'm sure everyone is probably tired of seeing me post here - I would love to see more chatter. Can you tell it is slow season at my job??

Ok - yes - another post from me. I just saw the Memorial page and cried the whole length of "Free Bird." I was very shocked to see Michael Blydenburgh on this list! I went out with him in 11th grade. So, that makes three (that I know of) Tommy Eist, Bob Reino, and Michael. Makes me feel kind of crappy. Sorry for the downer of a post, but shit.....

Maria Cotto (Gargano)

Hi Everybody....I know what you mean Barbara about the Memory Page...I didn't bet on the list being quite so long....guess what? I was Mike's "girlfriend" in 1st grade! Don't ask me how I remember that....anyway, if you go to the profile page you can write a memory of that person for their profile....maria

Hi all. Gregg would be happy to do the show. If it is something that the committee would like to do, we can certainly arrange it. Barbara, keep posting. I love hearing from you.

I am hoping everyone else is interested in seeing Greg Tome's performance (I know some locals got to see it last year) I have heard so many great things about "Back to Babylon" I would be happy to pay whatever to see it Friday night or Sunday afternoon/evening. I will plan my trip accordingly, but not sure where to go from here.

I've seen "Back to Babylon" several times . It's great. Each time Greg tweaks it a little bit. Maybe a Friday night show at the HS. Let me know I can help.

30 years !! Midnight Rider baby !!

And of the many times Gregg has performed the show, NO performance was as amazing as the show last year. It was so neat sitting in the audience and listening to the laughter and the tears of fellow Babylonians, as we were brought "Back to Babylon". Although Gregg's perspective on certain events will be different for some (they are for me), watching the show with fellow classmates who actually lived through the events and time period of which Gregg performs made the show even better. Gregg definitely perfomed his best as well. BUT PARENTS BEWARE, you do not want to bring your kids to this show. I would not suggest having this peformance at BHS. Adult children are OK, but no teens.

07/28/08 10:41 AM #21

Barbara Froehlich (Henderson)

If not particularly favorable for teens (I lived it and understand totally), then it may not be appropriate for a high school venue. We may need to go somewhere we came make it 21+. Been out of town for a while, so who's got some suggestions including the Arts Center in Bay Shore. I think availability at this late date might be a problem. Kevin, can you check on how this might work at the high school since it is not really a student thing?

Hi, all. I'm not familiar with "Back to Babylon". Is this a full-out stage production, or a one-man monologue kind of thing? If it's the latter, I may have a suggestion.
As some of you may know, my brother Pat owns Horace and Sylvia's restaurant in the village. Keely has talked to me about the possibility of doing a Sunday brunch there, something Pat is very receptive to. If this is just a one man show, I'm sure ample space could be made in the dining area for Greg's performance, or even possibly in the bar/lounge are in the front of the restaurant. Linda, if this is doable let me know and I'll speak to Pat about it.

If you don't get a chance to see 'Back to Babylon' just come down the Post Office Cafe on a Saturday afternoon when there's a home football game. You can catch most of the zeros (Gregg protrays) in the bar after the game.

07/28/08 08:21 PM #24

Linda Mastro (Tome)

Yes, back to Babylon is a one man show. I'm not sure if Gregg could perform at Horace and Sylvia's, but it sounds like a viable idea. I'll let Gregg know. Thanks.

Linda Mastro (Tome)

Doesn't look like a restaurant will work for Gregg. He needs a theatre and a stage. Last year he performed in Bayshore at the Boulton Theatre, but it's probably booked by now. I'm sure he'll be able to come up another time to perform -- maybe at his 30th reunion, which is only 2 years away.

07/31/08 12:05 PM #26

Maria Cotto (Gargano)

Personally, I would love to see this show...I heard about his appearance at the Boulton Center and that it was truly awesome. Anyway, I think the BHS stage is a great idea....I understand about controlling the age of the audience but if it were a ticketed event where the tickets stated clearly who could be admitted and we provided host/hostess to collect tickets and monitor the door.......We would also have to pay Gregg, no? or at least cover his overhead. Then there's the hs...do they rent for a small fee or is it free? If it's free we could always make a small donation or gift like an entrance way mat that says Babylon High School gift from the class of '78....just some ideas....

Kevin O'Handley

The old Islip movie theater is now a smaller version of the Boulton Center. I'll give thema call. Horace and Sylvias is a good idea but I think the area where the music is played might be too small. I think the HS is ok if you don't bring kids. I'll make a call.

I love the idea of the play and having it at BHS may be possible. Friday early evening would be our best bet and call it an alumni gathering for anybody who has graduated from BHS from a particular graduated year on up. We can then walk to Flanigans for all alumni to meet and talk.

BHS has a nonprofit organization called The Babylon Village Educational Foundation who may want to hold this alumni gathering and any profits will go back to the school district for special programs etc. that the budget doesn't cover. The president is Cristina Repetto 631-669-0520.

I have in the past talked about having BHS alumni cocktail party on the same weekend of our reunion. Reason being in the past many classmates who are having a class reunion meet up on Friday night(before) and the reunion almost becomes anticlimactic.... so having many classmates from all years ( 25 & over??)and teachers coming to an alumni function(on Friday) won't just concentrate on our class so we still have so much to see & talk come Saturday our own reunion. This will definitely work because Babylonians know many other Babylonians & family. This play and gathering at Flanigans could be a blast to add to our reunion activity and helping our High school.

I would like to help but cannot do too much because i am concentrating on Saturday & Sunday. Kevin if you & maybe Maria want to run with this... it could be really a special time. I am having a Reunion meeting on Monday 8/11 at my house at 7pm. Please stop by and we can all talk about this and who is best to contact at the school and the BVEF.

The reunion response is unbelievable! Names just keep on
appearing. Take care!

I am so excited that everyone is interested in the show and I like Keeleys idea of making it for alumni followed by a gathering afterwards because, like she said, we all know people from all different years. If there is anything I can do from NC, let me know. I feel bad putting all the work on you guys and will do what I can. I automatically assumed we would pay Gregg and the venue like we would for any other show. My husband and I are going next month to see Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Elizabeth City Coast Guard base (where they filmed "The Guardian") - some of us just never grow up, huh??? Gosh, do I miss Jones Beach theatre!!!

Maria Cotto (Gargano)

Hey!
I think asking the BVEF to sponsor the event takes a lot of work off our shoulders....and everybody wins. I know Mrs. Repetto gets things done. I don't mind pitching the idea to her perhaps over coffee (or better yet a cocktail)! I'm sorry I can't make your meeting on the 11th (I'm slated to take a class at Columbia that week.) However, if you need someone to talk to the BVEF I'd be happy to do so. Being the step-daughter of the former director of guidance may be a subtle advantage!
