Scott "Opie" Kalpin was a wonderful person who was loved by all those who had the priviledge of knowing him. He had tons of friends and I am sure it is difficult, even to this day, to talk about him in the past tense. His death affected many of us deeply, and while I am sure many of us have wonderful memories of him, it is hard to put them in writing. How many of us remember all the laughs we shared with Scott? I would actually be family by marriage since he was my sister-in-laws cousin. He was so happy to finally become a firefighter, too! His infectious smile and immense sense of humor is something none of us will ever forget. I am sure the "Free Bird" tribute was made with him in mind and that his spirit will be with us at the reunion as he was never one to miss a good time!
Scott's death is the single greatest loss thus far in my life. I visit his grave often and every Ausust 1st, the day he died. His family lovingly "Adopted" me as a young boy for which I will alway's be greatful.

Didn't know Scott very well, but I remember him being a nice person. His big brother Bob and my brother Doug were good friends.Barbara Froehlich (Henderson)
